Tradition Reimagined
Location: Vysloboky village, Lviv region
Area: 126 m²
Task: to create a modern interior with a Hutsul spirit: to combine traditional motifs, natural materials and authentic details in a harmonious, bright and contemporary space
Result: we combined modern minimalism with a deep respect for Hutsul culture. The result is an interior where ethnic motifs do not compete with modernity but are naturally woven into it.
In the living room, we used an authentic Hutsul carpet with geometric patterns, decorative plaster resembling mud, and the texture of untreated wood. These materials filled the space with tactility and cosiness. The symbolism of Ukrainian embroidery appears in the stencil decoration of the walls, while handmade ceramics and copper lamps create a soft, intimate light. This theme permeates the entire house. We did not copy the ethnic decor, but reinterpreted the Hutsul aesthetic as a profound style with meaning.
The kitchen features milky facades, a hood with elements of wood and plaster, and copper accents — everything is built around naturalness and harmony.
The window has been transformed into a cosy relaxation area — a place where you want to stop, wrap yourself in a blanket and just look at the mountains. Soft textiles in green tones add lightness, and natural light emphasises the textures.
We paid special attention to the details: two bathrooms, a children’s room and a study are also decorated in the same style – with natural materials, ethnic motifs and warm colours. This is how the space became coherent and harmonious. A project in which Hutsul aesthetics sound modern, sincere and homely.
