Storage systems in the bathroom. How to arrange everything conveniently?
The bathroom is one of the smallest rooms in the house, but at the same time, it requires careful organisation of the space. This is especially true when it comes to storing items needed for hygiene, personal care and household items. That is why a properly selected storage system is a key element of the functional and aesthetic design of a bathroom.
The main principles of creating effective storage systems in the bathroom
- Compactness and functionality
The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing storage systems is the compactness and multifunctionality of furniture and accessories. In a small bathroom, every centimetre of space should be used wisely. Cabinets, shelves and organisers should not only hold the maximum number of items, but also leave enough space for free movement.
- Built-in furniture
Built-in furniture is an ideal solution for small spaces. Lockers under the sink, hidden storage systems behind a mirror or niches can significantly optimise space. Built-in furniture allows you to store items discreetly and minimise clutter.
- Modular systems
Modular systems are another great option as they allow you to adapt the furniture to your needs. You can change the arrangement of shelves, drawers or hooks, depending on the number and size of items to be stored.
2. Wall storage
The use of vertical surfaces is one of the best ways to make efficient use of bathroom space. Shelves, wall cabinets and hooks help to clear the floor of unnecessary items, creating a tidier look. In addition, wall storage provides easy access to the things you need, making bathroom use more comfortable.
- Shelves above the toilet
The space above the toilet often goes unused, even though it is the perfect place to install shelves or cabinets. You can store toilet paper, cleaning products or other essentials that will always be at hand.
- Hooks and rails
For small items such as towels or bathrobes, hooks and rails are the best solution. They take up minimal space and allow you to keep your textiles dry and ready to use.
3. Organisers and baskets
To avoid clutter in drawers and on shelves, you should use a variety of organisers, containers and baskets. They will help you organise your small items such as cosmetics, grooming accessories, toothbrushes, washcloths, etc. Transparent containers are especially handy because they allow you to quickly find the right item.
- Baskets for dirty laundry
One of the most important elements of the bathroom is the laundry basket. If space permits, you should choose a basket that has a lid to prevent the spread of unpleasant odours and hide things from prying eyes. Another option is a built-in hamper that can be hidden in a cabinet or niche.
4. Using mirrors with built-in storage
Mirrors are an integral part of any bathroom, but they can be not only a decorative element, but also a functional one. Modern mirrors often have built-in cabinets or shelves that allow you to store cosmetics and other items without cluttering up the surface.
- Illuminated mirrors
In addition to built-in cabinets, illuminated mirrors add comfort and style. They help to create a pleasant atmosphere in the bathroom and provide better lighting for personal care procedures.
5. Furniture with hidden compartments
Modern bathroom design offers many options for furniture with hidden compartments. For example, washbasins with drawers or cabinets with hidden shelves allow you to store a lot of things while maintaining a minimalist and neat look. This approach not only adds functionality, but also makes the space more organised.
6. Choice of materials
Furniture and storage systems in the bathroom should not only be functional, but also withstand high humidity and temperature changes. Therefore, when choosing materials, you should give preference to moisture-resistant options. It can be wood with a water-repellent coating, glass, metal or acrylic.
- Moisture-resistant materials
Particular attention should be paid to the choice of materials for shelves and cabinets. Moisture-resistant materials such as acrylic or glass are not only easy to clean, but also durable, making them an ideal choice for a bathroom.
7. Decorative elements with storage function
Bathroom décor can serve both aesthetic and practical purposes. For example, stylish baskets or decorative boxes can become a part of the interior while also allowing you to store various small items. Decorative elements add cosiness and completeness to the interior, but it is important that they do not take up too much space.
Proper storage organisation in the bathroom is a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The choice of built-in furniture, the use of vertical surfaces, organisers and modern furniture with hidden compartments will help make your bathroom not only tidy but also stylish. Modern solutions make it possible to create a convenient storage system even in a small space, where everything will have its place. Therefore, when designing a bathroom, you should not neglect such details as storage – they affect the overall impression of the interior and comfort in everyday life.
Creating a convenient storage system is an important part of interior design, and there is always room for creativity and individual solutions in this area.
More about the project
We created this interior with every detail in mind to combine modern design, expressive textures and practicality. The main accent is the walls, decorated with rich green tiles laid out in a herringbone pattern. Such a dynamic element adds a special character to the space, harmoniously combining with the neutral grey shades of the floor.
A large mirror in the centre of the room not only adds light and space, but also becomes a stylish accent, emphasising the modern aesthetics of the room. Light, light elements of furniture on cabinets and cabinets make the room even more spacious, and thoughtful storage allows you to organise all the necessary things. You will have enough space for towels, hygiene products and other small items to keep things tidy and cosy without effort.
Black plumbing adds a restrained chic and emphasises the modern style of the space, while warm wooden elements create an atmosphere of comfort and harmony. Every detail is thought out to the smallest detail to combine aesthetics with functionality.
This bathroom interior is not just stylish – it is also great for living. The storage solutions allow you to use the space as efficiently as possible, and the harmonious combination of contrasting colours and textures adds sophistication and comfort to the room.
