A modern bathroom with glass blocks: a solution for room division

A modern bathroom is no longer just a functional space, but a fully-fledged part of the interior, where comfort, aesthetics and effective zoning are key. One of the most popular design solutions today is glass blocks – a material that combines practicality with a sense of visual lightness.

What are glass blocks and why are they back in vogue?

Glass blocks are structural elements made of glass that allow light to pass through but are not completely transparent. They have made a comeback in contemporary design in a more minimalist and stylish form. Thanks to their varied textures, shades and shapes, glass blocks easily adapt to any interior – from understated minimalism to more expressive concepts.

Advantages of using glass blocks in the bathroom

Glass blocks offer a number of advantages that make them ideal for wet rooms:

– they let in natural and artificial light

– they provide privacy

– they do not visually overwhelm the space

– they are resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations

– they are easy to maintain

This is the ideal solution for those who want to maintain a sense of open space even in a small bathroom.

Zoning the bathroom using glass blocks

Shower area

The most popular solution is to use glass blocks as a shower partition. They create a light barrier that looks less bulky than traditional shower enclosures or solid walls. At the same time, the light is softly diffused, adding to the spacious atmosphere.

Dividing functional areas

Glass blocks can be used to subtly separate a washbasin, toilet or storage area. This allows you to organise the space without creating a feeling of confinement.

Decorative accents

Small inserts or partitions made of glass blocks can become a central feature of the interior. The combination with backlighting or coloured blocks looks particularly striking.

Design solutions and style

In contemporary interiors, glass blocks are used in various ways:
– in minimalism – as a pure architectural element
– in contemporary style – as a textured accent
– in bolder interiors – as a striking decorative feature

Practical tips

To ensure glass blocks look appropriate and work effectively:
– do not overload the space with large structures
– combine them with neutral materials
– consider the lighting – it enhances the effect
– take the room dimensions into account

Glass blocks are a modern solution for bathroom zoning that combines functionality and aesthetics. They help create a light, bright and well-thought-out space where each area has its place without compromising the interior’s integrity.

More about the project

A bathroom where you’ll want to linger a little longer. The space is built on a delicate balance of natural tones and textures: warm beige-olive tiles create a calm, almost meditative backdrop.
The central feature is a partition made of transparent green glass blocks – it softly diffuses the light, filling the interior with lively reflections and a sense of lightness, whilst subtly dividing the space. The mirror’s contour lighting emphasises the geometry and adds depth.
Wooden fronts and brass-coloured details complete the composition, bringing warmth, texture and a sense of thoughtful comfort.
