A renovation that took over 1.5 years: what lies behind the beautiful interior of this 126 m² flat?

When we flick through photos of finished interiors, we usually see only the end result: beautiful furniture, stylish lighting, perfectly coordinated colours and décor. But behind every project like this lie hundreds of decisions, months of work and countless nuances that are rarely discussed.

That is precisely why the GL Design YouTube channel has released a new video tour of a completed 126 m² flat in the ‘Italian Quarter’ residential complex in Kyiv. This is not just a tour of the finished interior, but an opportunity to see the project through the designer’s eyes and discover what really goes into creating a contemporary, premium-level home.

The refurbishment of this flat took over a year and a half. During this time, the studio’s team went through the entire process from concept development to full completion, facing technical challenges, the need to adjust certain decisions, alterations and a multitude of details that influence the final result.

In the new video, the studio’s founder, Petro Golik, gives a detailed tour of the flat and talks not only about the design but also about the practical aspects of the project. That is why this episode will be of interest both to those seeking inspiration for a future renovation and to those who are already in the process of creating their own home.

More details about the completed project

The apartment’s interior is designed in a warm, natural colour palette. It harmoniously combines wood textures, natural stone tones, soft fabrics and accent olive-coloured elements. The space looks luxurious and sophisticated thanks to its well-considered proportions, high-quality materials and attention to detail, rather than an excess of decorative elements.

The open-plan kitchen-living room has become one of the apartment’s central areas. The designers have thought through every centimetre of the space, creating a practical storage system and a comfortable area for everyday living. Dark wood cabinet fronts, a large dining table made of natural walnut, a decorative display cabinet for crockery and soft, multi-level lighting lend the interior a distinctive character.

No less interesting is the bedroom, which has become a true haven for rest and relaxation. In addition to the large bed, there is a separate lounge area featuring a designer sofa with organic lines and a stylish coffee table. Deep green accents lend the space a natural feel and create a cosy atmosphere.

The flat also features a spacious walk-in wardrobe and study, where aesthetics and maximum functionality have been successfully combined. Glass fronts, well-thought-out storage systems, separate sections for women’s and men’s clothing, dedicated spaces for accessories and plenty of drawers have helped to create a space that meets the owners’ real needs.

The bathrooms deserve special attention. Clean lines, uniquely shaped mirrors, LED lighting and a dark colour scheme create a contemporary interior that looks stylish whilst remaining practical to use.

The main value of this video

However, the main value of this video lies not only in the beautiful shots of the finished renovation. Petro Golik shares his own experience and discusses solutions that help avoid common mistakes during renovation. You’ll discover which small details contribute to the feel of a high-end interior, what to look out for before work begins, and why some decisions require careful planning long before they’re put into practice.

If you’re planning to renovate your flat, looking for ideas for a contemporary interior, or want to see a real-life example of a design project from start to finish, this video tour is definitely worth your attention.
